2024 African Continent Correspondents (AfCC)

I. Program Overview
1. Program Objectives
• Identify current trends and news in various fields related to Africa, such as politics, economics, society, culture, and other areas
• Provide timely and on-site primary information and news to the Korean public
• Contribute to strengthening the Korea-Africa relationship by organizing the pro-Korea network in Africa and enhancing understanding of Korea in Africa
2. Number of Participants
• 35 AfCC (All new recruits)
3. Activity Period
• March 2024 to November 2024
4. Activities Include
• Identifying current trends and news in various fields (politics, economics, society, culture, and other areas) related to Africa, as well as activities and local events related to Korea
• Submission of 3 reports per month (analytical report, on-the-scene report, visit & interview, etc.)
• Participation in bi-monthly video conferences
• Supporting key projects of the Korea-Africa Foundation as needed

5. Major Schedule
• Announcement & application (Jan-Feb)
• On-line kick-off ceremony and orientation (13 Mar (Wed), 17:00 KST)
• Activities of AfCC and report submission (Mar-Nov)
• Annual activity evaluation (Nov) 6. Support Provisions
• Activity allowance of KRW 200,000 per month (Contingent upon diligent and satisfactory completion of each activity cycle)
• Certificate of participation as a 2024 AfCC
• Outstanding AfCC will have the opportunity to extend their activities into the following year.
II. Application Overview
1. Application Period
• 29 Jan 2024 (Mon) – 13 Feb 2024 (Tue) 18:00 KST (UTC+09:00)
2-1. Mandatory Requirements
• Must have citizenship in one of the countries located on African continent, and currently residing in the country of citizenship
• Must be at least 19 years old as of January 1, 2024
• Must be able to communicate and write documents in English or Korean
• Must be available to serve as an AfCC throughout the year 2024 African Continent Correspondents (AfCC)
2-2. Preferred Requirements
• Demonstrates keen interest in the political, economic, and socio-cultural trends of the African continent/region/country and in promoting relations and exchanges with Korea
• Recommended by the Korean government, related institutions, academic institutions, or companies
3. Application Process
(1) Document Submission
• Applicants are required to submit necessary documents by official email(rid@k-af.or.kr) within the application period.

(2) Document Review Announcement
• All applicants will be notified of the results via individual email by 26 Feb 2024.
(3) Technical Check for Shortlisted Candidates
• Technical Check for Shortlisted Candidates: Scheduled for 4 Mar 2024 (Mon) 17:00 KST , to assess identity verification and internet connectivity
(4) Further Selection Process
• Alternates will be considered if shortlisted candidates are unable to proceed.
